Camp Hollywood is one of America's best-known swing dance weekends, bringing together vintage enthusiasts, Lindy Hop dancers, and lovers of 1940s and 1950s fashion from around the world. If you love swing dancing and the unmistakable atmosphere of the mid-century era, this legendary event deserves a permanent place on your calendar.
Held each Labor Day weekend at the LAX Marriott Hotel in California, Camp Hollywood has been welcoming dancers since 1998. Over five lively days, beginners and seasoned dancers alike come together to enjoy workshops, competitions, live music, and social dancing, all celebrating the enduring spirit of the swing era.
While the National Jitterbug Championships are one of the weekend's major highlights, you certainly don't need to be a competitor to join in. With expert instruction covering Lindy Hop, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, and other swing styles, there’s something for every confidence level.
Naturally, one question crops up time and time again: "What on earth should I wear?"
That's where we come in! At Revival Vintage, we’ve spent more than twenty years recreating original 1940s and 1950s garments, so we know how to combine authentic retro styling with modern dancing comfort.
Dress For Dancing, Not Dressing Up
One of the best things about Camp Hollywood is that authentic vintage fashion is everywhere. Rather than feeling like a costume party, you'll find dancers wearing beautiful reproduction pieces alongside treasured original vintage items, all chosen because they’re comfortable enough to move in for hours.
At Revival Vintage, we believe the best clothing should work long after the music stops. Rather than buying a one-night costume, investing in authentic reproduction pieces gives you a wardrobe you can wear again and again for dances, classic car shows, weekend getaways, and special occasions.
Daytime Workshops
Much of your day will be spent in active dance workshops, so comfort and breathability are essential. Stick to natural fibers that help keep you cool while maintaining that authentic mid-century silhouette.

Dressing For The Evening
As live big bands take to the stage each night, many dancers love to step up the glamour.
A crisp spearpoint collar shirt, high-waisted fishtail pants, and a tailored vest create a timeless look that feels right at home on the dance floor without feeling overly formal.

Navigating The Themed Evenings
One of Camp Hollywood’s best traditions is its themed dance nights. Themes range from fun and playful Office Wear or Muppets Night to classic mid-century elegance Polka Dots and Moonbeams. Find their list of scheduled themed nights here.
If themes aren't your thing, don't worry! Camp Hollywood also hosts its famous "No Theme Thursday" where simply turning up in your favorite vintage outfit is all that's required.
